Who says pork rinds are only for savory dips? This sweet-and-salty dessert dip takes the classic fall flavors of apple pie and turns them into a party-ready scoop. A luscious base of caramel-whipped cream cheese is layered with spiced apple pie filling, crushed graham crackers, and crunchy peanuts. Paired with crispy cinnamon sugar pork rinds (chicharrones), it delivers the ultimate salty-sweet crunch that rivals any traditional pie crust!
1–2 bags Cinnamon Sugar Pork Rinds (or Churro / Cinnamon Chicharrones)
8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
¼ cup caramel sauce (plus an extra drizzle for serving)
2 cups apple pie filling (store-bought or homemade; see below)
1 full graham cracker sheet, finely crushed
2 tbsp roasted peanuts, roughly chopped(optional, for crunch)
3 medium baking apples (Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Gala), peeled, cored, and finely diced
1 ¼ cups water
1 ½ tbsp cornstarch
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup granulated white sugar
½ tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
¼ tsp ground cardamom
Pinch of kosher salt
In a small bowl, whisk together the water and cornstarch until dissolved.
Pour into a medium saucepan set over medium-high heat. Whisk in the brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and salt.
Bring to a gentle boil until the mixture thickens into a glossy glaze.
Fold in the diced apples, reduce the heat to medium-low, and simmer for 10–12 minutes until the apples are tender but still hold their shape.
Remove from heat and allow to cool completely before assembling the dip.
Whip the base: In a medium mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and ¼ cup caramel sauce together using a hand mixer (or whisk) until smooth and fluffy.
Layer the dish: Spread the caramel cream cheese evenly across the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish or shallow serving bowl.
Add the apples: Spoon the cooled apple pie filling over the cream cheese layer and smooth it out gently.
Top & garnish: Sprinkle the crushed graham crackers and chopped peanuts evenly over the top. Add an extra drizzle of caramel sauce if desired.
Serve: Surround the dish with crisp cinnamon sugar pork rinds for scooping and enjoy immediately!
